INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE MEMORIAL COMPETITION FOR THE BEST YOUNG COMPOSERS “ANDRIJA ČIKIĆ”

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation announces a competition for the composition of one composition for the piano or any other harmonic instrument (in case the piano is not the primary harmonic instrument) composed by children aged 10 to 19 years.

Applications for the competition run from May 21 to October 8, 2024.

Propositions:

– Children aged 10 to 19 can participate in the competition.

– The competition takes place in two categories:

1st category – children aged 10 to 14;

2nd category – children aged 14 to 19;

– The composition should be written for the piano or any other harmonic instrument for a duration of 3 to 5 minutes;

– The composition must be original; that it has not been performed at other competitions and that the phonogram has not been published on official sound carriers (CD, cassette, record, etc.);

– The composition is sent under the full name and surname of the author;

– The composition must be written in music notation software (Sibelius, Finale, MuseScore etc.);

– The application must contain:

1. completed questionnaire and parental consent (which you can download from the website www.kolarac.rs);
2. audio recording of the composition in MP3, WAV or FLAC format;
3. sheet music of the composition in PDF format (exported from the notation program).

– The submitted composition must be sent to the e-mail address takmicenje@kolarac.rs via a platform for transferring computer files (WeTransfer, etc.)

– Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

The competition council selects a shortlist of ten compositions from both categories, after which they will organize an interview with the semi-finalists and a performance of the compositions in front of the committee. The compositions in the semi-finals can be performed by a professional performer hired by the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation or to be performed by the competitors personally.

Three compositions from each category enter the finals.

The final compositions will be performed at the final concert announcing the winners and awarding the prizes, arranged for a string orchestra, organized by the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation.

Foundation of Ilija M. Kolarac has the exclusive right to:

– record audio and video, broadcast them and/or give them to others for the compositions that enter the final stage of the Competition;

– publish a collection of sheet music.
