KIPUKA

Kipuka is a geographical term; islands of land that play an important role as biological reservoirs or refuges for plants and animals after volcanic eruptions. I interpret them as islands of meaning in a torrent of existential anxiety.
Glass as a base, very unpredictable and difficult to work with, very nicely conveys the diversity of painting material: somewhere the layer is thicker and almost embossed texture, somewhere quite azure and airy.
